Claretie a fait faire des démarches par M. Decaux, éditeur, depuis le renvoi de Sauvaître, pour obtenir la résiliation amiable de son traité, prétendant qu'il n'est plus lié depuis la mort de Dentu : il a refusé de livrer à l'impression son dernier roman, "Succession Charvet", déjà paru dans l'Illustration, sous prétexte que la qualité semi-officielle lui interdit actuellement de publier un ouvrage qui a le caractère d'une satire politique ! Se référer pour éclaircir ce point au rôle douteux joué par l'intermédiaire de M. Claretie, Decaux, tant en cette affaire que celle des Scandales de Lundi et de son compte de dépôt chez Dentu, ainsi qu'à propos de l'édition de romans à 60 centimes [etc.] Contentieux : Calmann-Lévy : Réclamation relative au titre d'un volume de Mme Carette, "L'Outrage", 9 mai 1885. M. Sauvaître n'en a rien dit à personne est a dû payer 148 fr. à Calmann. Recours contre lui. Rouveyre : même date. Réclamation concernant le titre de Montépin, "Le Rastaquouère", et réponse insolente de M. Sauvaître, sans autorisation [ etc. ] Alphonse Daudet : Lettres de M. Hetzel se refusant à indemniser Mme Dentu pour la publication de Tartarin de Tarascon, faite au mépris de tout droit. M. Sauvaître a laissé sans réponse la dernière, datée du 4 février 1885, trouvée dans le volume d'Hetzel. M. Daudet a fait interdire la publication du Tartarin illustré, qui devait paraître en 1886, et dont les illustrations ont été payées à M. Jeanniot, dont M. Daudet a approuvé le dessin. Cette affaire est en suspens depuis trois ans bientôt, et M. Hippeau en a rédigé le prospectus en juillet 1885, M. Sauvaître s'étant engagé à le lancer dans la saison d'automne. M. Daudet a négocié avec M. Sauvaître la rupture du traité de Goncourt et s'est entremis dans diverses démarches dont l'objet était de procurer à la maison Charpentier des avantages au détriment des intérêts et en violation du droit de Mme Dentu [.] Debay : les ouvrages de cet auteur forment une section très important du catalogue Dentu, et leur vente est toujours très fructueuse et constante. La correspondance de M. Debay avec Sauvaître laisse voir des négligences dans le terme des comptes et dans la publication des éditions de cet auteur [.] Dubut de Laforest : grave affaire qui, intervenant après tant d'autres, a déterminé le renvoi de M. Sauvaître, aussitôt la citation du juge d'instruction à propos de la publication du "Gaga". [.] Eden Théâtre : Le traité d'annonce pour le rideau de scène a été signé par M. Sauvaître [.] Ferdinand Fabre : une note de cet auteur portant engagement de retirer de la librairie à des dates déterminées les six volumes qui appartiennent à la maison. En vertu de quel pouvoir M.
