Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book catalogs all the plants found on the beautiful and intriguing Mount Desert Island, Maine, which is a popular summer destination for many vacationers. The publication of the book came about because of an 1880 expedition to the island by the Champlain Society. A group of students from the society founded the island's botanical department and began compiling the plant list. Later, two of the society members, John H. Redfield and Edward L. Rand, assumed the responsibility for maintaining the list and soliciting contributions from other botanists who visited the island. The book's primary purpose is to make the list available so that errors can be corrected and a comprehensive botanical history of the island can be created. It is useful to both amateur and expert botanists and is a valuable resource for anyone who wants to learn more about the flora of the area. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
