Ethlyne Clair was a popular actress in silent westerns, comedies, and serials from 1924 to 1932. Her career was boosted by two serials "The Vanishing Rid…er" (1928) and "Queen of the Northwoods" (1929), and in 1929 was named as one of the 13 WAMPAS Baby Stars. Unfortunately Clair was one of many silent film actors whose career was thwarted upon the advent of talkies and retired from film acting in 1932. In 1928 Clair starred in four westerns for Universal Pictures, "The Vanishing Rider," "Wild Blood," "Riding for Fame," and "Guardians of the Wild." 10.25 x 8 inches. Very Good plus, with light creasing, a tiny chip from the top right corner, and faint emulsion regularities to the right side of the photograph.

From the archive of noted Hollywood still photographer Ray Jones. Born in Wisconsin on January 1, 1901, Jones worked for Paramount Pictures in the early…1930s, and went on to be the head of the still photography department at Universal Pictures in 1935, where he worked well into the 1950s. A popular and growing silent film star, Ethlyne Clair, was one of many actors whose voice didn't resonate well in talkies, cutting her career short. She starred in nearly 50 films in only eight years, from 1924 to 1932, and in 1929 was named a WAMPAS Baby Star. Some of her more notable performances include the serials "The Vanishing Rider" (1928) and "Queen of the Northwoods" (1929). 8 x 10 inches. Near Fine.
