Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. First Edition. Full red cloth boards with black lettering to spine, under yellow illustrated dust jacket priced at $2.75. Near fine book; jacket missing bottom 1/2" of spine panel, else very nice. Faith Norris grew up in Korea and maintained friendships when she returned to the US. During the Korean War, she was encouraged to write a story that would introduce Korea to American children. The illustrator Kurt Wiese has an interesting connection to Asia: he was traveling in China for work and was captured by the Japanese at the outbreak of WWI. He won both the Newbery and the Caldecott for Asian-themed children's books, and was a solid pick to illustrate this one.
