The authors of this adaptation are the actor William Faversham (1868-1940) and his wife Julie Opp (1873-1921). The story of an English aristocrat who becomes a cattle rancher in the American West, this play debuted on October 23, 1905, at the Wallack's Theatre, Broadway, starring William Faversham in the title role, as Captain James Wynnegate also known as Jim Carson. The doomed bad man, Cash Hawkins, was played by William S. Hart. The frontispiece is of Faversham and the three internal illustrations in this book are from photographs of scenes in the play. A title in the Tales of the Frontier series. 294 pp. Very good in olive green cloth with gilt lettering on spine.
