Eine besondere Rolle spielen hier die optischen Sensoren, die fUr die Automatisierung die Rolle des Sehsin nes des Menschen Ubernehrnen - wenn auch in stark eingeschrankter Form. Der Begriff 'Sensor' bezeichnet ursprUnglich lediglich den Signalwand ler. Inzwischen wird 'Sensor' in einem erweiterten sinne gebraucht, in dem darunter auch die signalverarbeitung und die Signalanalyse mit ein geschlossen sind. Es hat sich eingebUrgert, in solchen Fallen von 'in telligenten Sensoren' zu sprechen. Da optische Sensoren Bilder aufneh men, verarbeiten und analysieren, wird hier von 'intelligenten Bild sensoren' gesprochen. Sie sind das zentrale Therna der vorliegenden Ar beit. Derartige Beschreibungen werden fUr eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen benotigt. Methodisch kommen Verfahren der Bildver arbeitung und Mustererkennung zum Tragen. Die Vielzahl der Aspekte macht regelmaBige Fachgesprache der auf diesen Gebieten tatigen Wissenschaftler erforderlich. Die DAGM wollte durch diese Symposium-Reihe ein Forum fUr einen sol chen Gedankenaus tausch bieten. Wie sehr eine derartige Veranstaltung gewUnscht wurde, zeigt sich an der regen Teilnahme beim 1. Symposium in Oberpfaffenhofen im Herbst 1978. Die rege Beteiligung halt auch bei der zweiten Veranstaltung an und wird sicherlich zu einer Vertiefung des Gedankenaustausches fuhren. Das Symposium wird von der Deutschen Arbeitsgemeinschaft fUr Mustererkennung (DAGM) organisiert und vom Fraunhofer-Institut fUr Informations- und Datenverarbeitung (frUher IITB) ausgerichtet. Die DAGM ist ein Dachverband folgender wissenschaft licher Gesellschaften: Deutsche Gesellschaft fUr angewandte Optik (DGaO) Deutsche Gesellschaft fUr Nuklearmedizin (DGNM) Deutsche Gesellschaft fUr Ortung und Navigation (DGON) Deutsche Gesellschaft fUr Medizinische Dokumentation, Information und Statistik (GMDS) Deutsche Gesellschaft fUr Angewandte Datenverarbeitung und Automation in der Medizin (GADAM) Gesellschaft fUr Informatik (GI) Nachrichtentechnische Gesellschaft (NTG). Die DAGM fordert den Erfahrungsaustausch auf dem Gebiet der Mustererkennung und ist Mitglied der International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).
