First U.S. edition in aqua paper covered boards with copper gilt spine lettering has former owner name printed under flap on frt pastedn, along with some foxing & finger soil. Boards lightly soiled and spine ends bumped, tips still fairly sharp but show light soil. Unclipped facsimile dj in new mylar has some color loss lines vertically but still displays well. This is a wonderful book that is clear and simple in its instructions, starts right at the beginning, and allows no short cuts. The Norman Thelwell illustrations at the start of each chapter are priceless and the photographs very well taken.

Book is Landscape format 8vo, measures 13 3/4" long x 9 3/4" tall x 1/2" thick. Price-clipped dj has one repaired closed tear at foot of frt panel, still displays very well in new mylar. This is a hilarious collection of sporting prints lampooning the work of expert draughtsmen such as Stubbs, Rowlandson, Fernley and Pollard. Thelwell, the creator of the cartoon character Penelope, has a superb eye for detail and for the relationship between humans and animals.
