First edition. xiii, 208pp. Carroll Chevalier Carstairs (1888-1948) was an American art dealer who served in the Grenadier Guards of the British Army during World War I. This book is his memoir of the conflict. The book is bound in the original brown cloth covered boards with… gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear to the boards and a little patchy damp spotting on the front board. The top corners are lightly bumped and the spine is cocked with bumping to the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with heavy browning to the second front free endpaper and last page and a little light foxing to the half-title and title pages. There is no inscription.
