Forsyth led fifty scouts at the Beecher Island fight Sep 16-25, 1868, and later commanded the 4th Cavalry, and in this book, covers those topics, as well as the 1868 Washita battle, the Great Sioux War of 1876-77, and the 1877 Nez Perce Campaign. The author writes in support of Custer, believing he did not disobey Gen. Terry's orders on the Little Big Horn campaign.
