Burgundy leather, banded spine, soft bevelled boards with decorative grape-leaf gilt, faded spine and gilt, gilt page edges, abrasions, small losses base of spine, both boards partially detached, binding else sound, fep partially detached, mild foxing early and late, occasional spot elsewhere, very good page condition.

Contemporary inscription on prelim with chocolate brown endpapers. Original green cloth with Golden Treasury series medallion stamped in gilt on front board. Minor splits to head and base of hinge of spine, otherwise a very nice copy.

Illustrated title page, plain blank chapter break leaves. one with attractive copperplate inscription of Ralph Waldo Emerson quotation. Internally very good clean tight sound square, bookplate to pastedown with scoring, no further inscriptions of any kind. Bound in bright gilt lettered ruled and illustrated full calf leather gently rubbed to extremities, lower and foreedge of leaves coloured marbling to match. Great shelf presence featuring 5 raised gilt ruled bands, 5 elaborately gilt embossed compartments, leather label very gently chipped.
