Stab-stitched pamphlet in recent marbled boards, paper title label to spine. Light toning to interior, light soiling to a few leaves, faint early ownership signature to head of half-title affected by trimming. A nice copy. $450. * Only edition. Gregor was an English landowner and MP for Cornwall from 1709-1806. Here, he is highly critical of notable radicals Thomas Hardy, John Horne Tooke, John Thelwall and Robert Watt, not so much for their beliefs in reform as their methods and enthusiasm, which he deems "rash, intemperate, and improvident." He further criticizes the Constitutional and London Corresponding Societies for condoning and even celebrating the acts of these radicals, citing evidence from their trials to highlight their destructive nature. OCLC locates 11 copies of this title, none in a law library.
