Pues lo que está en juego es el destino de las especies animales y vegetales, de nuestras generaciones futuras o de quienes se vuelven más vulnerables al cambio ambiental en virtud de su nacionalidad, clase, género o discapacidad. La crisis ambiental global y el crecimiento y despliegue vertiginoso de nuevas tecnologías de la vida y de la información, hacen de Parque Jurásico (Crichton, 1990) un cuento moral acerca del presente que apunta las imperfecciones esenciales de los simulacros biotecnológicos hoy verosímiles. Al tomar conciencia de que nuestra civilización está en tránsito a una nueva era, los enfoques científicos heredados resultan inapropiados. Por primera en España se presenta de manera extensa la caracterización de una ciencia posnormal y de sus novedosos aspectos metodológicos, centrados en la calidad de la información y en las estrategias de resolución de problemas. Tal ciencia posnormal asume las contradicciones de nuestro tiempo y contribuye a la articulación de un sistema tecnológico con raíces renovadas en la calidad y en la realidad.Silvio Funtowic, epistemólogo y matemático, es investigador y asesor de la European Comission Joint Research Centre, Institute for Systems Informatics and Safety (ISIS) en Varese (Italia). Jerome R. Ravetz, también epistemólogo y matemático fue profesor de Historia y Filosofía de la Ciencia en la Universidad de Leeds y en la actualidad investigador en The Research Methods Consultancy Ltd. de Londres.
