Prima edizione
Trade Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. Gaede,Marc (illustratore). First Edition. 52 Pages. Pictorial. Illustrated with multiple color photography on every page. Staple binding. Very light wear to front cover edges. More archaeology has been done in the southwestern United States than any other area of comparable size in the world. After a century of excavation, archaeologists still realize how little they really know of the prehistoric people of the Southwest, although the broad outlines of the story have been discernible for several decades. Several major groups have been defined, among them the Anasazi, who for the last 2000 years lived in the region surrounding the point where the modem states of Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico meet. Dozens of archaeologists have devoted their lifetimes to studying the Anasazi, and have written many thousands of detailed pages describing the ruins, artifacts, and lifeway of these ancient people. This book is an attempt to reduce the voluminous technical literature to a more easily grasped visual and verbal form, condensing the information that has been so painstakingly gathered on the Anasazi. It is the efforts of several generations of archaeologists and their co-workers that have made this book possible, but in the interests of brevity and readability, references are not given in the text. Contents: Preface, Introduction, Making a Living, Making a Home, Clothing and Adornment, Basketry and Textiles, Pottery, Religious Life, Synopsis, and Additional Reading.

Softcover. Condizione: Very Good. Images that portray the contemporary Southwest with the zeal and romantic fervor inherent in one who has absorbed and integrated the southwestern environment.Whether landscape or portrait, Gaede's photos evoke a reverence for the Southwest and it's inhabitants. Gaede worked as curator of photography at the Museum of Northern Arizona for eight years. His interest in photography allowed him to later become an assistant to Ansel Adams in 1977, and was photographer-in-residence at the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona in 1978-79. His photographs of Southwest arts and crafts, landscapes, and Indian ruins have been included in numerous books and articles. He and his wife, Marnie have also published numerous books on Native Americans of the Southwest and archeology. Gaede has held many titles over the years, including anthropologist, ecologist, and photographer. Gaede has been an instructor of photography, environmental issues, and Physical Anthropology in the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California since 1988.
