Hardcover. Condizione: Fine. Peter's Dream; songs by Lennie Gallant; Paintings by Karen Gallant; Gallant Effort Productions, Halifax, 2014. Signed by Lennie Gallant. From the blurb on the back cover, no dust jacket Singer-songwriter Lennie Gallant and visual artist Karen Gallant are Brother and Sister who grew up in Rustico, Prince Edward Island. They were influenced by their surroundings in similar and profound ways, yet chose to channel their creativity through different media. Lennie and Karen have long dreamed of working together on a project and this wonderful book is the result. Peter's Dream is an opportunity for you to experience their respective visions through exciting pairings of lyric and image that will pull you into new worlds rich in drama, pathos, and celebration as well as a healthy dose of East Coast lure. There are over 50 pairings of songs and paintings. Lennie Gallant began at an early age by playing guitar, harmonica and mandolin in local bands. Gallant has released twelve albums (10 in English and 2 in French) of original songs which have won him a host of awards and nominations from the JUNOs, Les Prix Eloizes, and 18 East Coast Music Awards, including 2017 ECMA Entertainer of the Year. His double CD of the 22 songs from his multimedia hit production, Searching For Abegweit, which ran for 140 shows, also won him an ECMA. He was named Canadian Folk Artist of The Year for 2016 and his song Peter's Dream was voted one of the Top Ten East Coast Songs of All Time. Inspired by the elements and rhythms of the sea and Island the land, its people, and their stories Karen's art summons the watchful spirits between worlds ours and theirs. Working in acrylics and mixed media, Karen Gallant's pieces reveal the mysterious spark at the heart of Island tales which have been passed down from generations natural observers and legendary storytellers. This book is in fine condition. No dust jacket, as issued. This is a scarce book and at the time of this posting there were 5 copies in the United States and none in Canada, and obviously none in Atlantic Canada which is quite surprising.…

Condizione: Gut. Zustand: Gut | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | This book illustrates tensions, absences, and unresolved challenges experienced in research - experiences that are so often left out of the conventional, smooth, and linear discussion of research that generally appears in academic publications. Laying bare the messy details of research is increasingly important because leisure scholars' engagement in reflexive, collaborative, critical, arts-based, participative, and social justice-oriented research heightens the need to explore and examine significant moments that punctuate and undoubtedly shape both research and researchers. The chapters in this book make explicit the negotiations, contradictions, questions, doubts, and uncertainties often underlying research. As loose ends of the research process are unravelled, this book inspires researchers across disciplines to expand the ways we come to know and do research. The chapters in this book were originally published as a special issue of Leisure Sciences.…
