Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book offers an accessible framework to teach solfà ge, with a focus on teaching sight-singing skills and relative pitch. The author positions it as a bridge between rote-learning and independent sight-singing. The text begins by explaining the basics of notation and rhythm in an easy-to-follow manner. It then progresses through the major and minor keys, and the rhythmic complexities within each. The author presents an original approach of using chromatic pitches for training relative pitch, adding another layer of depth to the book's content. The book's historical context shows how the methodology was perfected over the years, drawing on the ideas of the masters of centuries past and the techniques used in the present day. The book positions its approach as a superior method for teaching music literacy and a robust understanding of solfà ge. The insights in this book will provide music students and teachers with a valuable tool as they seek to develop musicality and hone the skills of dictation, sight-reading, and aural skills. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Capek, Karel [with autograph edits by Hermann Gantvoort for performance]. The Makropoulos Secret . Adapted by Randal C. Burrell. Introduction by H. T. Parker. Boston: John W. Luce & Company, [1925]. First (unauthorized) edition in English. Octavo, pp. [i-iv] v-xii [xiii-xiv] 1-165. Original drab olive green cloth, front and spine panels stamped in black, fore-edge untrimmed, bottom edge rough trimmed. Front free endpaper bears pencil ownership name of Hermann Gantvoort, with his address and telephone number. First two leaves of the play have portions carefully scissored out (to edit unwanted dialogue). The rest of acts I and II are untouched, but act III is very heavily edited in pencil, almost certainly by Gantvoort. Cloth a bit dusty, a good sound copy of this unique and historically valuable document. Laid in loosely at p. 101 is a slip of paper with a revised speech for one of the characters. Also laid in is a receipt dated Feb. 26, 1926, from The Punch and Judy Theatre Co. for one copy of the book (with author given as Burrell, not Capek). #1536. $350. Hermann Gantvoort worked as a producer or director in off-Broadway theater during the last half of the 1920s. He is credited as associate producer of this play's performance in New York, which ran from 2 January 1926 through 24 April 1926. The producer was Burrell, who had produced his adaptation of the play for the Dramatic Club at Harvard in the spring of 1924 (its first production the U.S.), right before his graduation. The original Czech version of the play appeared in Prague in November, 1922, with a note by the author alluding to Shaw's "Back to Methuselah", which examines the same theme (the extension of human longevity), though Capek wryly notes the different attitudes taken in the two plays. He also notes that he began thinking about "The Makropoulos Secret" before he had written his more famous play, "R. U. R." (1920). The present work ". cloaks in comic routines the terrifying story of the alluring, world-weary, 300-year-old protagonist, the secret of her longevity, and her ambivalently conceived death ." -- Clute and Nichols, The Encyclopedia of Science Fiction, p. 190. Bleiler (1978), p. 39 (citing this edition).
