From the introduction: "The bibliography is classified under six broad headings - A Printmaking & picture printing in general; B Intaglio plate processes; C Relief block processes; D Planographic (lithographic) processes; E Photo-mechanical processes; F Periodicals consulted. Section E is subdivided according to photo-mechanical processes that correspond to sections A to D. In order to keep this work within reasonably handy proportions we have confined our annotations to selected works and have prefaced each section with some introductory notes which highlight 'key' works in that field. For less familiar processes we have also given an outline of the principal techniques and their development. Collations are kept to a minimum and text illustrations are not generally mentioned. Plates, however, are always noted and, in the happy event that they represent actual examples of graphic processes described, we have recorded their details. Two indexes conclude the work.
