GOOD/VERY GOOD copy. [++] George Oswald SYM, "On Flame. Sur la Flame" pp 165-176. Interesting paper by this Mr. George Oswald Sym on the flamebut really, he's looking at the structure of flame in relation to the "safety flame", which was developed into a safety tool for the use of miners. (This was no small accomplishment, as it vastly increased the efficiency of miners pulling the fuel of the Industrial Revolution from the Earth. This paper (originally appearing a year earlier in Thomson's "Annals of Philosophy" and also in the "Philosophical Transactions" a few months before that) really does spend most of its effort on the structure of flame and its relation to wire gauze. Sym also declares his researches on the "hollowness" of flame in its "elliptical bubble" structure. [++] Also in this volume: ACCUM, "A Practical Essay on Chemical Reagents. Redoute, Peintre de fleurs." this is a review, of sorts, on pp 295-293, of Redoute's spectacular botanical work.
