Dopo una serie di lezioni introduttive relative al rapporto tra cinema, letteratura e architettura, gli studenti sono stati invitati a scegliere un film tra quelli presentati durante il Corso per rappresentarne i concetti fondamentali attraverso l'elaborazione di un modello tridimensionale realizzato in scala adeguata e con materiali di loro scelta. Trattandosi di allievi del primo anno questa si presentava come la prima esperienza progettuale utile a comprendere concetti fondamentali come: lo sviluppo dell'idea, la scala della rappresentazione, il riferimento architettonico, il concetto di disegno e di modello: in sostanza le basi della composizione. L'opera cinematografica, quindi, è stata in questo caso lo strumento per avvicinare gli studenti all'architettura, permettendo loro in tal modo di comprenderne l'importanza e la complessità. Prendendo spunto dall'esempio mostrato loro costituito dal Teatrino scientifico di Ado Rossi, gli studenti sono stati invitati a pensare a un proprio "teatrino" nel quale poter mettere in scena la sintesi o l'interpretazione di un film tra quelli presentati all'interno delle lezioni, eseguendone prima i disegni per poterli poi trasporli nel modello tridimensionale. A partire da queste premesse, ognuno di loro, assistito dalla docenza, è stato messo in grado di poter elaborare e rappresentare la propria idea acquisendo in tal modo le regole fondamentali e i principi base della disciplina architettonica. An Exercise on the Architectural Composition of a Scene accompanies the exhibition and illustrates the outcomes of the didactic works of the Module of Elements of Architectural Composition of the Laboratory of Composition, Theory and representation of architecture I (coordinated by Gianfranco Guaragna). After a series of introductory lectures on the relationship between cinema, literature, and architecture, the students were invited to choose a film from those presented during the course and present its fundamental concepts through the creation of a three-dimensional model made to an appropriate scale and with materials of their choice. Since these were first year students, this presented itself as their first design experience useful to understand fundamental concepts such as: the development of an idea, the scale of representation, the architectonic reference, the concepts of drawing and modeling; essentially the basics of composition. The cinematic work, then, was in this case used as a tool to introduce students to architecture, this way allowing them to understand its importance and complexity. Inspired by the example of Aldo Rossi's "Teatrino Scientifico" (Scientific Theater), the students were invited to think of their own "teatrino" (or small theater) where they could stage the synopsis or interpretation of a movie presented during the lectures, first creating drawings which they would then translate into a three-dimensional model. From these premises, each one of them, assisted by the teaching staff, was able to develop and represent their own idea, thus acquiring the fundamental rules and basic principles of the architectural discipline.
