Condizione: VERY GOOD. Third printing (just 5 months after the first) From the introduction by D. C. Turrentine: "Wine families think of wine when they think of food. They think of it both as a table beverage and as an ingredient in the recipes they cook. Wine is part of their daily diet, leading to more flavorful dishes, comfortable living, merriment and goodfellowship at meal times. That is why we asked California's winemakers and their families share with you the exciting adventures they have had in wine cooking. They are continually adding wine to new combinations of foods." 128 pages, illustrated with two-color line drawings by Caroline Barr. Contains approximately 300 recipes for appetisers using wine, soups meats poultry seafood, pasta, vegetables, and of course desserts. Quotes on wine scattered throughout. In addition to the recipes, this is interesting as a picture of how tastes in wine have changed - although there is one constant - do not be bound by "rules." Index. 128 pp. Very good in stiff board covers (some rubbing to the edges of the covers), metal spiral binding.

The recipes have been collected by the WIne Advisory Board of California. "The California wine industry literally put down its roots in 1769, when Padre Junipero Serra began his chain of missions in San Diego by planting grape seeds and vines. Eventually it stretched to Sonoma, more than 600 miles to the north. The California wine industry owes its success to many fathers. One was a key vigneron, Jean-Louis Vignes, who established vineyards near what is now Los Angeles in 1834 and began the commercial wine industry. By 1919, California had become America's leading winegrowing state, with over 1,000 wineries in operation, but the following year, the 18th Amendment was enacted, bringing Prohibition. Uncertainty reigned in the vineyards of California, until Repeal on Dec. 5, 1933 with the enactment of the 21st Amendment. The California wine industry began the task of rebuilding."
