One of those was mineral ontogeny, which studies mineral individs and aggregates, their structure and their interrelations. From these studies, mineralogists are able to restore the history of mineral birth, development, and destruction. The analysis of the literature on ontogeny of minerals showed that different authors interpret many morphological terms in different ways. The need for standardization of the terms for specimen description was the main reason for making this special exhibit in the Fersman Mineralogical Museum. The main focus of the study was to illustrate the diversity of known forms of mineral crystallization. This volume is divided into 3 sections: 1. Forms Crystallization in Low-viscosity Media (solutions, gases). 2. Forms of Mineral Crystallization in Viscous and Solid Media. 3. Destruction of Mineral Forms. Stunningly beautiful photography and crystallography.
