Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the challenges involved in measuring recreation use in national forests, particularly in California. The author explores various methods employed by forest officers to estimate the number of visitors, the duration of their stays, and the activities they engage in. The book delves into the advantages and disadvantages of each method, including self-counting systems like special permits and individual registration, as well as direct-counting systems like census counts and aerial photography, and indirect-counting systems such as traffic counters. The book concludes by discussing the need for further research to refine these methods and improve the accuracy and consistency of recreation use data.
