Revised edition of a novel originally published in hard covers by Hutchinson in 1955. The spine has some reading creasing and edge rubbing with quite a bit of tearing to the edges at the bottom. Creasing at the top corners and along the top edges of the front and back covers and the covers have some light surface wear. Browning to the page edges with two small dark marks to the top edges. The text block has split at some time and this has been repaired with a piece of tape along the inner edges of pages 98 and 99 and another piece at pages 158 and 159. the pages are browned with some creasing to the top corners but otherwise unmarked. Cover illustration by G. Benvenuti. First printing. Postage charge will be reduced by £1.50 when the order is processed.

Looks as though part of binding may have been stapled in an attempt to fortify it, but now there are rust marks along gutters of a number of pages.
