The Library Edition of Landseer's works was a significant 19th-century collection of engravings and illustrations documenting the prolific career of the Victorian animal painter Edwin Henry Landseer, this being the second series of those published. No date stated, believed to be 1881-1893. Collection of 100*b/w engravings after Landseers paintings by a number of contemporary engravers (A.C. Alais, Samuel A. Edwards, G. Sydney Hunt, Richard Josey, Ralph Piercy, Joseph B. Pratt, William Roffe, James Scott, Cother Webbon) on India paper pasted on to the book pages each with tissue overleaf that includes a description of the piece. No date stated, believed to be late nineteenth century. 6pp text plus approximately 200 pages of description and plates. Black morocco boards with extensive gilt lettering and decoration to spine and boards. Spine has five raised bands. Gilt to all page edges. Rubbing to edges of boards with scuffing of corners. Marbled endpapers. Light foxing to various pages, mainly the overleaves, heavier to the endpapers. There is small puncture through several of the early pages, see photographs).
