In-12, reliure plein veau de l'époque, dos à nerf, frottements et usures aux coins, mais reliure solide. Notre exemplaire contient 8 feuilles non chiffrés con…tenant la page de titre, Préface et table des devises pour la première et la seconde partie du livre, 412 pages, les chapitres sont réparties en devises accompagnées de textes d'explications des figures. Cet exemplaire est orné de bandeaux, cul-de-lampes type figures, ou fleurons, lettrines, gravures réalisées par Pierre Daret, légendées 102 planches en pleine page. Il manque la quarantième gravure dans la seconde partie, aussi il manque la page 7 et 8, indiquant la quarante deuxième figure. Quelques nudités figurant dans les gravures ont été biffées laissant des petits trous. Un petit manque au milieu de la page de titre qui est aussi légèrement froissée aux bords, mais sans altérer la lecture. Une édition reprenant l'édition originale : La doctrine des moeurs tirée de la philosophie des stoïques : représentée en cent tableaux et expliquée en cent discours pour l'instruction de la jeunesse, publiée à Paris, Pour Pierre Daret, de l'Imprimerie Lovys Sevestre, 1646 et conservée à la bibliothèque nationale de France. Livre inspirée de Vaenius, Otto Van Veen, (1556-1629) dans son Emblemata Horatiana, édition 1606.
