Two outstanding mid-20th-century American chamber works in excellent performances. CONTENTS: Cowell: Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano [1945] is in four movements: Hymn-Sonata allegro (fuguing); Slow; Scherzo; Finale - brilliantly performed by violinist Joseph Szigeti and pianist Carlo Bussotti. Shapero: Sonata for Piano Four Hands [1941] is in three movements: Very slowly - Moderately fast; Slowly; Fast. It is persuasively, ingratiatingly played by the composer and Leo Smit. CONDITION: An excellent VERY GOOD PLUS LP record [not a CD!] in a FINE jacket (unmarked, with minimal shelf-wear). The LP - tested and cleaned before listing - plays beautifully, with minimal-to-light surface noise. ***A fresh anti-static inner sleeve replaces the plain/blank original - and the jacket is nestled in a clear outer sleeve.
