Vintage flyer announcing a series of performances by Nina Simone, Geoffrey Holder, Bill Harris, the Ramsey Lewis Trio, and Elly Stone at the Village Gate, and a concert by Simone at Hunter College, 1960. The Village Gate performances ran from September 8 through September 17, 1960, and from September 19 through October 11, 1960,… with an additional announcement of a Nina Simone concert on October 21, 1960, in the Main Hall at Hunter College. A arts polymath, Geoffrey Holder was a dancer, choreographer, actor, composer, musician, designer, and painter. He made his Broadway debut in 1954 in the Truman Capote musical "House of Flowers," and was the principal dancer for the Metropolitan Opera in 1955-1956. Holder began his film career in 1957, and his best known as the villainous Voodoo henchman Baron Samedi in the 1973 James Bond film "Live and Let Die," directed by Guy Hamilton, and starring Roger Moore. 8.5 x 11 inches.
