This copy is a later printing of the 1911/1912 copyright edition, published by American Book Company, a dominant educational publisher of the period. The title page and copyright page confirm the early issue, with no later reset or modernized text - typical of long-running classroom editions. Of particular note are two pieces of laid-in handwritten study notes, likely contemporary to the book's use, featuring geometric proofs and diagrams in ink on period paper. A neat ownership inscription reads 'Clement Brooks, St. John's College' on the front endpaper. The two laid-in sheets show edge wear and toning but remain fully legible and well-preserved. C. A. Hart was a mathematics instructor in New York City, and Daniel D. Feldman served as a high school principal; together they contributed to widely adopted instructional texts during a period when American secondary education was rapidly expanding and formalizing. Their collaboration, with editorial input from Cornell University mathematicians, reflects the bridging of secondary and higher education standards in early 20th-century mathematics pedagogy.
