Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. The length, scale and intensity of the Battle of the Atlantic led the British and German navies to make substantial changes to their organisation, strategy and tactics. In this book, Dennis Haslop examines the pivotal lessons learned, and how these helped to determine the outcome of the Battle of the Atlantic Convoy War. He questions how well adapted the two organisations were to learn from the conflict, and how effective they were in identifying problems and producing remedies. Based on the in-depth analysis of British and German primary sources, this study provides an innovative basis against which to assess the German and British approach to changing warfare and provides important new insights into aspects of convoy warfare, in particular the virtually unknown subject of German 'Operational Research'.

Title: Rare 1878 1st Edition - What Would Mother Say? by Alice Haslop (Privately Printed) Description: A remarkably scarce, privately printed 1st Edition of Alice Haslop's Victorian children's moral tale "What Would Mother Say?" Published in 1878, this unique volume was "Sold by the Author" in Cambridge and printed by the notable local commercial printer Frederick William Talbot. No other copies are currently recorded for sale online, making this an exceptional find for collectors of Victorian fiction and Cambridgeshire regional history. Condition Report: Binding: Original green cloth boards featuring beautiful blind-stamped decorations and an ornate gilt title design. The gilt remains distinct. There is light rubbing to the spine ends and board edges, with mild surface soiling consistent with age. Hinges & Structure: Hinges & Structure: 188pp. Hinge is cracked pp48/49, but the binding remains firm and secure overall. The front cover is just beginning to soften ever so slightly at the inner hinge (showing a tiny 0.5 cm of play), but the board remains completely and tightly attached. Spine: The spine is ever so slightly cocked, resulting in a minor 0.5 cm forward overhang, which is very typical for a Victorian cloth volume of this age. Interior: 188pp. The pages are clean throughout with lightly tanned edges. Free from major foxing or internal staining.Provenance: Features a charming, contemporary handwritten gift inscription on the front endpaper: "To Hannah Knights from E Hills dated January 1880", providing excellent 19th-century local provenance.
