Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fine. No Jacket. BLIGH, Moya (illustratore). Special Edition. A one-off artist's proof (inscribed AP to final page), never reproduced commercially. Signed by both artist and calligrapher. With original, double-page watercolour by Bligh as centrepiece. Heaney's famous poem about his father first appeared in Eleven Poems in 1965, and later the same year in The New Statesman. Moya Bligh (1954-2009) studied printmaking at the National College ofArt and Design in Ireland, where began her life-long interest in Japanese prints. She taught Japanese design at Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design in the 1980s, and later won a scholarship from the Japanese Ministry of Education to attend Tama Art University outside Tokyo. There she met her future husband and lived for the last 30 years of her life in Japan. She died tragically in a road accident in 2009. The present artwork was a joint production with her son, Ronan Sato. 21.0 x 25.0 cm. Original light brown hessian-covered boards, with white inscribed label to front cover, and printed calligraphic endpapers. Heaney's stanzas have been produced on pages of white speckled paper, joined and folded concertina-style to make a single sheet. A lovely handmade, and a touching tribute to Bligh. Fine condition.
