In diesem Buch sind alle Facetten der Lachsfischerei erläutert: Die genaue Lage der einzelnen Fangstellen, historische Fang…methoden, Handel, Verarbeitung und Transport sowie die wirtschaftliche Bedeutung für Land und Leute im Laufe der Geschichte. Warum die Salme im vergangenen Jahrhundert gänzlich aus dem Rhein verschwanden und die tradierte Lachsfischerei in den 30er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts auch an den verbliebenen Fangstellen am Kammereck bei Oberwesel eingestellt werden musste ist ebenso Inhalt dieser Arbeit wie die besondere Biologie des edlen Wanderfisches und seine Anforderungen an eine intakte Umwelt. Das Buch will den Leser ermutigen, die ehenamtliche Arbeit bei der Wiederansiedlung auf allen Ebenen zu unterstützen, damit in absehbarer Zeit ausreichen viele Wanderfische in das Rheinsystem zurückkehren und ihre Bestände eigenständig erhalten können. Salmon have been caught in the narrow valley between St. Goar, St. Goarshausen and Oberwesel for over 1000 years. The so-called "Loreleysalm" had an excellent culinary reputation far beyond the region. All facets of salmon fishing are explained in this book: the exact location of the individual fishing spots, historical fishing methods, trade, processing and transport as well as the economic importance for the country and its people over the course of history. Why the Salme disappeared completely from the Rhine in the last century and the traditional salmon fishing in the 30s of the last century also had to be stopped at the remaining fishing spots on the Kammereck near Oberwesel is just as part of this work as the special biology of the noble migratory fish and its requirements an intact environment.
