Launched in January 1937, the magazine was published mo…nthly, and had the particularity of having two variants. Ausgabe A contained only articles and photographs pertaining to fine arts, while Ausgabe B included the fine arts section of Ausgabe A to which was added an architectural section (Baukunst). This scarce copy contains both parts and has its architectural section entirely dedicated to the most iconic building of the Third Reich: the new Reichskanzlei (Reich Chancellery). Inaugurated in January 1939, Albert Speer's masterpiece was the embodiment of the power of the Nazi regime and Hitler's megalomaniac vision of a new architectural centre for the capital of Nazi Germany. The 37 striking b/w and color photographic reproductions of both interior and exterior views depict a building designed to impress and be the seat of a new German Empire. Photographs include the monumental entrance adorned with four pillars topped by the Nazi eagle holding a swastika; The great gates opening into a Court of Honor; The courtyard entrance flanked by Arno Breker's two larger-than-life bronze sculptures of male nudes (The Torch Bearer, and The Sword Bearer, also known as The Party and The Army); Hitler's office and apartment (400 square metres in size); A marble gallery (480 feet long) and various banquet halls and ballrooms. Five plates of architectural drawings and floor plans (including one large folded) concludes the "Baukunst" section. The second part of the magazine is devoted to the officially approved fine arts produced in the Third Reich. Includes b/w and color photographic reproductions of statues by Franz Mikorey, Hans Wimmer, Fritz Koelle, Ottmar Obermaier, Oswald Hofmann, Eugen Henke, Eugen Mayer-Fassold, etc. as well as watercolors and paintings by Paul Herrmann, Wilhelm Dachauer, Leo Frank, Hans Frank, Ferdinand Andri, Ludwig Wieden, Heinrich Krause, among others. Containing 100 steel-engraved plans, all with positions handcoloured and each plate with textleaves. On one of the wrappers is stated that "Wöchenlich erscheint ein Plan" der ganze Atlas wird aus 100 Schlachtp…länen bestehen", so the offered volumes seem to be complete. 2 maps with a small hole, 1 leaf with a small hole. Internally clean.
HERMANN WINKELMANN (1847-1912) deutscher Opernsänger (Tenor), Sohn des Gründers der Braunschweiger Klavierfabrik Zeitter & Winkelmann. Er wurde 1882 von Richard Wagner als erster Parsifal für die Uraufführung in Bayreuth verpflichtet und sang von da an regelmäßig bei den Bayreuther Festspielen, beispielsweise den Tannhäuser. Von 1883 bis 1906 wirkte er an der Wiener Staatsoper als Heldentenor. Er war 1883 der erste Tristan in der Inszenierung der Wiener Staatsoper.

Deutscher Kunstpädagoge, Maler und Grafiker. Lehre zum Lithografen im Schreiber-Verlag Esslingen. 1911-13 Studium an der Königlichen Kunstgewerbeschule Stuttgart bei Bernhard Pankok. Danach Tätigkeit als Gebrauchsgrafiker. 1914-16 als Soldat im Ersten Weltkrieg, 1916 nach schwerer Verwundung als Invalide entlassen. 1918-22 Studium der Malerei an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Stuttgart bei Christian Speyer, Christian Landenberger, Adolf Hölzel, Arnold Waldschmidt und Heinrich Altherr. Bekanntschaft mit Willi Baumeister und Oskar Schlemmer. Zunächst Anhänger des Kubismus und Konstruktivismus. Unter dem Einfluss von Heinrich Altherr Hinwendung zum Expressionismus. 1923 Mitglied der Stuttgarter Sezession. 1925-27 mit einem Stipendium Studienaufenthalt in Berlin. Dort Bekanntschaft mit dem Galeristen und Kunsthändler Alfred Flechtheim. 1937 Arbeits- und Ausstellungsverbot durch die Nationalsozialisten. 1946-62 Professur für Malerei an der Akademie der bildenden Künste Stuttgart. Nach der Emeritierung als freischaffender Künstler in Esslingen am Neckar ansässig. Unterhalb in Bleistift signiert und datiert: Herm. HERMANN WICHMANN (1823-1905) deutscher Komponist und Schriftsteller, Sohn des Berliner Bildhauers Ludwig Wilhelm Wichmann (1788?1859). Er studierte bei Wilhelm Taubert, Louis Spohr und Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. 1857 war er vorübergehend Musikdirektor des Musikvereins in Bielefeld, anschließend ließ er sich wieder in Berlin nieder. Er zählte zum Freundeskreis von Giacomo Meyerbeer und Carl Lührß. Von seinen Kompositionen waren insbesondere seine Lieder sehr erfolgreich, die zum Repertoire der Sängerin Jenny Lind gehörten. / german composer and writer
