Between 1997 and 2009 three expeditions to different parts of French Polynesia were organized by MNHN and IRD. Three new deep water species of the genera Mitra and Cancilla from these cruises are described herein: Mitra structilis n. sp. from the Austral Islands, compared with Mitra rinaldii Turner, 1993 from Somalia and with Mi…tra geigeri (Poppe, Tagaro & Salisbury, 2009) from the Philippines; Mitra (Nebularia) tabida n. sp. from the Tuamotus and the Marquesas, compared with M. (N.) tuberosa Reeve, 1845 and with M. (N.) lugubris Swainson, 1821. A third species, Cancilla fluctuosa n. sp. from the Marquesas and Austral Islands, is compared with Cancilla apprimapex Poppe, Tagaro & Salisbury, 2009 and with Neocancilla armonica (T. Cossignani & V. Cossignani, 2005) from the Indo-Pacific. In addition, the range for Mitra cernohorskyi (Rehder & Wilson, 1975) is extended northwards to the Austral Islands. 13 pp., 5 plates, 4.

Four new Austromitra species from New Caledonia are presented, collected during (deep water) expeditions organized by the MNHN between 1978 and 2008. Austromitra brunneopunctata n. sp. is compared with Austromitra bellapicta (Verco, 1909), Austromitra crayssaci n. sp. with A. runneopunctata n. sp., Austromitra semirosea n. sp. w…ith Austromitra lawsi Finlay, 1930 and Austromitra koumacensis n. sp. with Austromitra cernohorskyi Turner, 2008 and Austromitra valerieae Lussi, 2015. A fifth new species Austromitra willcoxae n. sp. is described from South Australia and compared with A. koumacensis n. sp. and A. valerieae. Another Austromitra from deep dredging in the Coral Sea mentioned.
