In 1990 we were stimulated by the 150th anniversary of the union of the Secession Synod and the Synod of Ulster to find out more about what happened then and to take stock of where we are going now. It is fitting that the 350th Anniversary of the first Presbytery in Carrickfergus in 1642 should be marked by this publication from the Presbyterian Historical Society, which embraces more than one Presbyterian church. . It is clear that events outside the control of the church have affected Presbyterianism as well as Presbyterianism affecting the history of the country. Indeed, if people do not understand Presbyterianism they do not understand contemporary Ireland. Let us hope that this publication will help others to understand us better and us to understand ourselves and those who preceded us.". Book in excellent condition. No inscriptions.…
