Hard Back. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: No Dust Jacket. Hoopes, Margaret C. and Florence J. (illustratore). First Edition. 141 Pages with New Words by Pages, and Vocabulary. Text and illustration pages are free of marks and have illustrations on every page with color drawings. Child's blue crayon scribbling on front endpaper. Blue illustrated boards show some wear to edges and corners. The vocabulary of Spick and Span has been carefully selected in order to hold reading difficulty to a minimum. The list of assumed words includes 193 words taken from the Core Vocabulary, a word list based on extensive study of reading materials for the first half of grade one. The Core Vocabulary contains only words that are likely to be known to children who have had beginning experience in reading. In addition to the assumed words, 186 new words have been introduced gradually. No more than three new words appear on any page, and every new word is used a minimum of four times. All variants were counted as new words except those formed by the addition of s or 's. Proper names, however, were not included in this vocabulary control. The list shows the new words by pages. Contents in Nine Units: Spick and Span, To School We Go, Keep Well, Take Care of Colds, Good Things to Eat and Drink, Good Teeth, Take Care of Eyes Nose and Ears, Careful Children at Home, and Time For Sleep.
