Black and White music illustrations throughout Volume 2. A two-fold facsimile of the first handwritten sketches of the vocal subjects o…f Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, and illustration of invitation to the composer's funeral in Volume 2. Bindings generally loose, spine breaks, corners soft, backstrips on both volumes pulling away, with 2" loss at head, and 2.5" loss at tail of Vol. 1. Both volumes shelf-cocked. with waterstains along bottom edges of texblocks, 1-1.5". Books in generally Poor condition, but text blocks remain highly readable, and all pages present.
