He was a descendant of Jacob Stauffer who was born near Wurtemberg, Germany and immigrated to America aboard the ship 'Pink Plaisance' ca. 1732. John married Margaret S. Landis ca. 1869 in Pennsylvania. They lived in Pennsylvania and were the parents of ten children. Descendants lived primarily in Pennsylvania. Extensively indexed. Includes information on the Herr, Landis, Peffley and Pickell families, among many others.
