Paperback. Condizione: Good. Our family did not go to church, nor did I know anything about Christianity while growing up in San Diego, California. I became active in a variety of sports such as basketball, surfing, bowling, billiards, ping pong and Tiddlywinks. I worked a variety of jobs while attending San Diego State University. I graduated in 1976 and also acquired a teaching credential. In the midst of all this Jesus Christ entered the drama of my life. It wasn't long before the drama became a rescue story. Jesus saved me from myself. I was my own worst enemy and didn't even know it. Thank you, Jesus. The last place I thought I would ever step foot in was a church. However, now that Jesus was guiding my steps, his church was where I had to be. I got involved teaching Sunday school with the sixth graders and I also helped with the church's youth group. The Lord straightened out my life, put me on his blessed path and led me to the love of my life. Her name is Brenda. She became my wife that same year. An amazing thing happened: the church asked me to be their youth pastor. Those years of leading young people in the Lord was a blessing. The blessing kept growing leading us to plant a church where we still are today. We raised two children in that setting who are now adults living blessed lives in the Lord. I was then blessed to earn a Masters of Divinity Degree from Bethel Seminary in San Diego graduating in the year 2,000. The Lord led me to start Christian Life Tools as a way to extend his salvation and blessing to others. May God's salvation and blessing be on all who pick up this book.…

Hardback. Condizione: Good. When Warren Buffett was asked why the Gillette board of directors chose Jim Kilts to be CEO, he said, Jim made as much sense in terms of talking about business as anybody I've ever talked to. If you listen to Jim analyze a business situation you get absolutely no baloney. And, frankly, finding someone like that is a rarity. There is only one CEO in recent times who has faced--and succeeded at--the extraordinary challenges of leading three major companies--Gillette, Nabisco, and Kraft--into prosperous futures by doing what matters on the fundamentals. That CEO is Jim Kilts. In this vivid first-person account he reveals his system for success that is both cutting-edge and back-to-basics. Doing What Matters--the action plan for identifying and tackling what's important and ignoring the rest--is the key to winning in a warp-speed world where the need for revolutionary speed and decisiveness increases by the day. Kilts illustrates his ideas with colorful stories, such as that little red razor. A new product idea he proposed early on at Gillette, it was initially shelved because everyone knew you couldn't sell a red razor, but went on to become one of Gillette's biggest marketing successes ever. Jim Kilts's focus on both business fundamentals and personal attributes provides the complete package, showing how to get results that make a difference through: - Intellectual integrity: The ability to face the unvarnished truth about yourself and your business and using what you see as the basis for action. - Generating emotional engagement and enthusiasm: Using the force of your personality and ideas to infuse people and an entire organization with a sense of purpose and mission. - Action: Gillette, with just five product lines, had over 20,000 SKUs. After studying the issue for over two years, there were still 20,000. How Kilts got Gillette off the dime to pare down the number to 7,000 almost overnight is an astonishing example of getting the rubber to meet the road--with enormous benefits to the business. - Understanding the right things through an overarching concept to frame and filter issues: For Jim Kilts it was Total Brand Value, the framework he used in the consumer products industry for achieving better, faster, and more complete results than the competition. Whether you're CEO of a multibillion-dollar global company, the brand manager for a product, an entrepreneur starting a small business, or just beginning a career, Doing What Matters provides the practical ideas that get results--ranging from a day one action plan for starting a new job to a chorus of cheers and support to a program of total innovation that involves everyone in changes from small to big bang. Hardback. Condizione: Very Good. The New York Times Bestseller William F. Buckley, Jr. remembers--as only he could--the towering figures of the twentieth century in a brilliant and emotionally powerful collection, compiled by acclaimed Fox News correspondent James Rosen. In a half century on the national stage, William F. Buckley, Jr. achieved unique stature as a writer, a celebrity, and the undisputed godfather of modern American conservatism. He kept company with the best and brightest, the sultry and powerful. Ronald Reagan pronounced WFB "perhaps the most influential journalist and intellectual in our era," and his jet-setting life was a who's who of high society, fame, and fortune. Among all his distinctions, which include founding the conservative magazine National Review and hosting the long-running talk show Firing Line, Buckley was also a master of that most elusive art form: the eulogy. He drew on his unrivaled gifts to mourn, celebrate, or seek mercy for the men and women who touched his life and the nation. Now, for the first time, WFB's sweeping judgments of the great figures of his time--presidents and prime ministers, celebrities and scoundrels, intellectuals and guitar gods--are collected in one place. A Torch Kept Lit presents more than fifty of Buckley's best eulogies, drawing on his personal memories and private correspondences and using a novelist's touch to conjure his subjects as he knew them. We are reintroduced, through Buckley's eyes, to the likes of Winston Churchill and Ronald Reagan, Elvis Presley and John Lennon, Truman Capote and Martin Luther King, Jr. Curated by Fox News chief Washington correspondent James Rosen, a Buckley protégé and frequent contributor to National Review, this volumes sheds light on a tumultuous period in American history--from World War II to Watergate, the "death" of God to the Grateful Dead--as told in the inimitable voice of one of our most elegant literary stylists.William F. Buckley, Jr. is back--just when we need him most.…

Paperback. Condizione: Good. Baptism by Toilet Water is Jim Winter's bittersweet memoir retracing his difficult childhood and early adult years. Growing up in the sixties with a raging alcoholic for a father, life for Jim, his mother, and four siblings meant years of physical and mental abuse. The intriguing title perfectly describes the paradox of growing up in a dysfunctional home while right next door lived his paternal grandparents, who exemplified Christian living. The two stark environments not only define the irony of Jim's early years, but hint at the main premise of the book, which is how good can come from bad. Fortunately for Jim and his siblings, their grandparent's home provided a much needed respite, but even more importantly, they taught the children a different way of life. Our home life was the furthest thing from a Christian home, yet, right next door lived our grandparents who modeled the Christian life. They were the spiritual paragons we so desperately needed. Despite this haven, we knew we were trapped, for even though we could see paradise from our fence, at best we could only visit it from time to time. After high school, Jim leaves him home, believing the worst is behind him. Unfortunately, nothing could be further from the truth. As illness and death ravage the family, Jim becomes stricken with grief. Jim then becomes tormented by his past and is certain God has forsaken him. When all hope seems lost, a series of remarkable events unfolds in what can only be described as divine intervention. Through Jim's Baptism by Toilet Water, he soon realizes Jesus Christ is illuminating the way through it all. Jim Winter lives in Waterloo, Illinois, with his wife, Aimee. He has two sons, Tyler and Zachary, and a daughter, Mallory.…
