Les 5 volumes. Dernière des trois réécritures du roman d?Honoré d'Urfé, après les éditions de 1678 et 1712, cette nouvelle version de L?Astrée est attribuée à l?abbé Souchay. Le travail de refonte a porté quasi exclusivement sur la langue et le style du roman, modernisés et mis au goût du jour. L'?uvre est ici assortie d?un appareillage critique innovant : le dernier volume regroupe en effet les principales lectures à clé qui avaient été proposées du roman, et réédite un important échange épistolaire entre Madeleine de Scudéry et Pierre-Daniel Huet, daté de 1699. Les deux libraires associés, Witte et Didot, ont fait graver pour l?occasion une nouvelle série de planches, prenant le relais de celles réalisées pour l?édition collective de 1632-1633. À l?instar de cette dernière, chacun des douze livres qui composent les cinq parties de l??uvre est précédé d?une illustration originale. Les compositions des quatre premiers tomes ont été dessinées par Gravelot. Il a lui-même gravé la plupart des planches des deux premiers tomes et quelques-unes du troisième, les autres l?ayant été par Jean-Baptiste Guélard. Quant aux planches du cinquième tome, elles ont été dessinées et gravées par Jacques Rigaud. Minime trace de mouillure en marge supérieure des 40 premiers feuillets du tome I, les feuillets des planches parfois brunis, mais bon exemplaire. 1733.
