Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. What does it mean to dream about tomorrow? This new title articulates how dreaming about tomorrow can be an act of bravery. The publication follows an exhibition of the same title, which took place at Nidi Gallery (Tokyo) in October 2022. The exhibition and publication feature recent paintings, some in oil, others using natural pigments, including some created from plants grown in the artist's allotment. Photographs from Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck's ongoing series Analog Diary and unique collaborative works with ceramic designer Olivia Fiddes (UK) and weaver Pauline Simonet (France), as well as The Gardening Drawing Club and the Seed Library set up at Nidi Gallery are also featured in this publication. This publication features a new essay by PhD holder and Oslo University-based researcher Veronika Muchitsch as a written response to the project.Dreaming About Tomorrow radiates with a radical softness and unwavering openness that characterises Johanna Tagada Hoffbecks artistic and lived practice at large. Veronika MuchitschAs I have suggested in this essay, dreaming is here not an entirely utopian activity, but materialises through actions of care, compassion, and community that weave an intricate fabric of time. In the face of endings, loss, and time standing still in small and big ways, this work inspires us to dare to remember, to build the present and to dream of tomorrow, as blurry as it may appear. - Veronika Muchitsch Further informationColour printStaple boundDesign by 75W Studio Languages: English & JapanesePrinted in England using vegetable inks Edited by T. Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Edited by Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck, designed by 75W Studio.Including an essay by Harr-Joht Kaur Takhar and the participation of Sarah Gissinger. Published by Poetic Pastel Press. Limited edition of 500 copies, including a CD. Packed in biodegradable clear cases. Sounds are swollen, expanded and layered, steadily unfolding through time. However, these smooth resonances are also disrupted through Jatinders attempts to imitate the synthesiser by plucking the smaller strings of the dilruba. Though an unusual method to adopt, plucking demonstrates Jatinders concern to create intimate dialogues between both instruments. This is also matched by Suren, who at points attempts to mimic the dilruba using the synthesisers palette.Such exchanges, occurring at a sonic level, are made visible in this publication through measured textual and visual offerings. The choice to accompany their debut album with a design-led publication highlights how Petit Oiseau isnt merely a musical project, but an artistic one too. Harr-Joht Kaur TakharAfter their 2012 inaugural performance at Tate Modern The Tanks, the duo Jatinder Singh Durhailay and Suren Seneviratne returns to its fruitful collaboration with a new experimental and sonic musical endeavour titled Petit Oiseau. The duo has in 2019 performed in venues including the V&A Museum and The Design Museum London. The project brings together rare classical Indian string instruments played by Durhailay known as the Dilruba and the Taus, unusually combined with Seneviratnes interests in alternate tunings and numerology through custom patches built on a E- MU Command Station digital synthesiser.Printed in the United Kingdom in October 2019. Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Creer avec la Nature is a book by international transdisciplinary artist and cultural practitioner Johanna Tagada Hoffbeck. Written in French and published by Editions Ulmer in 2023, this hard-cover book features 140 illustrations, including 63 full-page artworks and photographs, all printed with vegetable inks in Italy.Creer avec la Nature delves into the artist's memories growing up in rural Alsace close to the land and her grandparents, the foundations of her work, and the philosophies that nurture her practice. Across seven chapters, each inspired by a body of work part of Johanna's practice, the readers and viewers are invited to explore natural farming, permaculture, kindness, multiculturalism, and to slow down. This book is at once soothing and initiates profound reflection. The artist associates suspended moments and memories of small, simple pleasures found in gardening with essential conversations as she does in her visual works. In Creer avec la Nature, Johanna discusses compassion and food, growing up in France and discriminations beside the roots of The Gardening Drawing Club and the loving transnationalism that shapes her continuously as she shares pieces of her life in France, England, India and Japan.
