Stoddard Johnston served in the Confederate army as a distinguished staff officer to Gens. Bragg, Buckner and John C. Breckinridge during the Civil War, rising to the rank of Lt. Colonel; as Kentucky Secretary of State from 1875-79, and as Vice-President of the Louisville Filson Club from 1893 to his death in 1913. Rare volume and very rare signature. Signed by Author(s).
