CONDITION . BOOK : VERY GOOD ? DUST-JACKET : VERY GOOD ? This is a previously owned book that remains clean and presentable. All in all a very nicely preserved copy, with the following particulars noted :: EXTERIOR - Spine extremities are compressed with fraying just beginning (more so at the head); also the head of the spine is slightly discolored and has some crimping ; else the exterior is clean and presentable. Top text-block edge is rubbed, else clean; fore- and bottom-edges are slightly weathered and toned, else clean. BINDING - The book has been read, and opens easily, but all is solid with no detached or loose leaves. INTERIOR - The front free end-paper has an ornate label affixed to the top fore-edge corner; the paper throughout is lightly toned, with only a scattered few minute spots and or smudges (nothing egregious), else clean and with no marking or writing. No signatures. DUST-JACKET - The most obvious flaw is the loss of paper at the head of the spine panel, and the creasing and moderate discoloration to the rear panel. The spine panel is faded. The front panel displays a small nick/loss at the top edges and a tiny hole on the flap crease. There is also a small crease and nick at the bottom fore-edge corner of the front panel. The flaps are not clipped.

Cloth. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Book Club (BCE/BOMC). Bright teal cloth, lettered in gilt and black with large "JJ" initials in black on front cover. Cloth slightly tanned along edges, otherwise essentially as issued. Dust jacket shows modest surface rubbing, a few creases along front flap fold, a few short closed tears at head of spine, now in mylar. xvii,768 pp. Nicely preserved BOMC edition with unpriced dust jacket, small slug at bottom rear corner of binding. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Book.

Red cloth, lettered in gold foil on black field, black topstain, Toledano binding style G5, used 1945-63 but this copy precedes 1961, when the text was reset/corrected. Dust jacket is Good, rubbed along flap folds with partial separation along lower rear fold, chipped extremities, some surface marking/soiling, now in mylar. xvii,768 pp. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Jacket is unclipped ($1.25) with crease to front flap, light wear at spine ends/corners and some scuffing to rear panel.
