The Lustspiel Overture is a lively and spirited orchestral work composed by Kéler Béla, a 19th-century Hungarian musician known for his light, entertaining compositions. The word "Lustspiel" is German for "comedy" or "farce," and the piece reflects that meaning through its cheerful, playful character. It was written as a concert overture rather than as the introduction to an opera or play, and it showcases bright melodies, energetic rhythms, and colorful orchestration typical of light Romantic-era music. The overture has remained popular in orchestral repertoire, especially in pops concerts, because of its accessible style and vibrant mood. Kéler Béla (1820-1882) was a Hungarian composer, conductor, and violinist who spent much of his career in Central Europe, particularly in Germany. He composed a wide range of works including orchestral pieces, dance music, and stage works, but he is best remembered today for lighter compositions like the Lustspiel Overture. His music often blends Hungarian folk elements with the popular salon and dance styles of his time, making it appealing to broad audiences. Although he was not as internationally famous as contemporaries like Johannes Brahms or Johann Strauss II, Kéler contributed significantly to the tradition of light orchestral music that entertained 19th-century European audiences and continues to be performed today.

Soft cover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. A near very good copy in the original publisher's wrappers. As with most of these volumes the wrappers now show fading. They show only minor wear and some splitting and a closed tear to the spine top, but are still firmly attached by the original staples. There is a prior owners name to the inside of the front wrapper, but otherwise the contents are clean and unmarked. The Little Blue Books were a series of popular 3½ × 5 inch volumes, designed to be affordable, approachable, and convenient for all readers. The enterprise began in 1919 with a series entitled The Appeal's Pocket Series, copies of which sold for 25 cents. As mass-production techniques improved, the series grew, changed names, dropped prices, and eventually emerged as the Little Blue Books in 1923, with copies going for 5 cents a piece. Promoted as a "University in Print," the Little Blue Books covered a vast range of subjects including literature, politics, religion, history, sexuality, economics, self-help, and fine arts. As the popularity of the Little Blue Books grew, so did the scope of material, eventually bringing in to the fold volumes on cooking, stock prices, and contemporary humour, to name but a few. At the time of publisher Emanuel Haldeman-Julius' death on July 31, 1951, the Little Blue Book series boasted an inventory of over 1,800 booklets, and had seen some 2,300 unique titles grace the ranks.
