Hardcover. Condizione: About Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: No DJ. Apparent First. The most important aspect of this book is 4 separate pieces of original art, two signed "O. Pooley, '93." and two unsigned. The first is a sketch of a dog in pencil (unsigned, p. 39], the second a line drawing of a snipe at the end of the chapter on snipes (signed O. Pooley, '93,' the thrid is of a mallard landing on a lake with cattails and background executed in color pencils (signed O. Pooley, '93), and final sketch on page 286 with two shotguns crossed, and a mallard below that, done in colored pencil and probably pen (unsigned). The last two are the more important pieces. I have not found any information on O Pooley, and it appears to have been done 40 years after the book was published. The cloth is dark green, has an intricate embossed design front and back, and gilt lettering on the spine. There is significatn fraying and rounding of the tips. Front pastedown has an autograph of "John A. Gausche, Eden Park, July 1853" the front fly leaf ahs a tipped in clipping about using a compass in the woods and a bookplate (circa 1960s, as I had the same one) of a prior owner. Frontis of a dog is detached, tissue guard present. After the text there is a plate advertising "John Krider, Gun Maker, N.D. Cor. of Second Walnut Sts. Philadelphia," showing a hunter and a couple hunting dogs. This is followed by 6 pages of ads by John Krider. An interesting piece. This book is likely to require extra postage for overseas shipping which can be very high, so before ordering , contact me so that the postage rate can be agreed upon. ID# NS700.
