Prints heavily creased, with a vew corner chips, and some soiling/staining to versos (note that the yellog glare visible in the image is a reflection, and not a stain on the print); overall good only. Despite wear, a lively series of… racing images, with five of the seven shots depicting mid-race action. Five of the seven prints contain captions to the versos, which lend some detail and character to the group. They read as follows: "The late Billy Campbell," "This picture was taken two years ago. Don Campbell driving," "This Buick is one of our cars the driver is Billy Evans the picture was taken last season on the left side of Billy is a Pontiac driven by Eddie Gray," "This is Walt Price. Last Years racing champion. This same car is driven by Bill Evans but we changed the body from 54 to 55," and "This was my real buddy He was real good to me. He died last year while racing his car. I talk[ed] to him just before it happened." Despite the regrettable condition of some of the prints, this is a detailed, and rather somber series of images and captions, which captures both the joy of the ordinary people who raced stock cars in the 1950s, and the attendant risks. That the images contain these captions and also have stamps from the photographer set them apart from many similar examples we have seen in commerce.
