Da ich nicht gesonnen war mit Herrn Dr. Goose, welcher mich ohne Zweifel nur in der Angelegenheit der Firma Kruse zu spr…echen wünschte, in Anwesenheit eines dritten zu verkehren, fand ich mich bestimmt den Empfang Euer Hochwohlgeboren im gegebenen Falle um so mehr abzulehnen, als ich vermuthen mußte, daß Euer Hochwohlgeboren mir die Ehre Ihres Besuches nur als Rechtsfreund der Firma Kruse zugedacht haben [.]". - Der erfahrene Militär war von 1874-76 Reichskriegsminister und erwarb sich zahlreiche Verdienste bei der Armee, "vor allem durch die bei der Artillerie erfolgte Einführung von Geschützen aus Stahlbronze" (ÖBL IV, 87). - Beiliegend ein vom Vortag datierter Brief des Adressaten an den Verfasser (1 S. 8vo.).
