He was among the most important German practitioners of mezzotint in the eighteenth century. Haid produced numerous portraits of European nobility, scholars, clergy, and officials, often after paintings by contemporary artists. Through his publishing house he distributed portrait prints widely across the German states, contributing significantly to the popularity of mezzotint portraiture in Central Europe.Biography artist: Anna Rosina de Gasc (1713-1783), born Anna Rosina Lisiewska, was a German portrait painter active at several German courts, including Dresden and Anhalt-Zerbst. She specialized in portraits of nobility and intellectuals and was the daughter of the portrait painter Georg Lisiewski. Johann Conrad Kruger (1702-1770) was a German draftsman and engraver who produced designs and drawings for portrait engravings and book illustrations during the eighteenth century.
