Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware -An incubation study was carried out to investigate the influence of organic sources viz. FYM, sludge, poultry manure, fresh cow dung and Lantana Camera on microbial population, enzymatic activity, CO2 evolution and soil microbial biomass carbon (SMBC), total carbon content, total nitrogen and C:N ratio of soil at 15,30 and 45 days of incubation (DAI). FYM, Poultry manure and fresh cow dung signi¿cantly improved pH, EC, available N, P, K, bulk density and water holding capacity, Sludge has the maximum capacity to increase the population of fungi and actinomycetes followed by FYM. FYM exhibits their potential to raise bacterial population at 45 DAI followed by sludge. FYM elaborates maximum dehydrogenase activity at 45 DAI followed by fresh cow dung. Sludge induces maximum urease activities at 45 DAI. Highest soil respiration was reported with FYM followed by sludge and fresh cow dung with increasing incubation periods. The highest value of CO2 evolution was observed in FYM at 45 DAI. A marked increase in SMBC was recorded with an application of FYM followed by sludge and fresh cow dung. Maximum SMBC occurred at 45 DAI.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 84 pp. Englisch.

MNPs possess a high adsorption tendency and surface area to volume ratio which makes them versatile material for remediation applications. In addition, biocompatibility, super-paramagnetism and oxidative stability of MNPs play an important role in their applications. A brief overview of the synthetic methodologies for MNPs including the co-precipitation method, sol-gel method, solvothermal method, sonochemical method, microwave-assisted method, and biochemical method with plant extracts has been presented. The application of MNPs based nanomaterials in water remediation by different mechanism such as adsorption, redox, and photochemical mechanisms has been discussed in the present book. MNPs are easily recovered by external magnets; therefore, they have the potential of reusability. The studies summarised the recent development in magnetite-based materials for its commercialized use in water remediation.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 52 pp. Englisch.

Zustand: Hervorragend | Seiten: 272 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Soil is a vital support system for all life forms, and is directly or indirectly exposed to various pollutants and harmful chemicals. Any pollutant entering the soil system not only affects the quality of the soil, but also the plants and crops growing in it. Further, soil pollution has far-reaching impacts, since harmful chemicals can become biomagnified and enter the food chain, causing severe health concerns. Degraded soils can adversely affect various plant systems by creating biotic and abiotic stress, which increases the chances of biochemical and physiological disorders. Chronic diseases and lower yield have been reported as consequences of soil pollution. Drawing on decades of soil-related research, this book focuses on soil pollution, types of soil pollutants, and their impacts on plant physiological and biochemical systems, along with crop productivity. The book begins with a brief introduction to soil pollution and continues with a discussion of the different types and their effects, together with remediation methods. It highlights various sources of soil pollution such as herbicides, acidification, chemical fertilizers, sewage sludge, heavy metals, and radioactive pollutants. It also covers plant responses to combinations of pollutants, effects of pollutants on plant ultrastructure, interactions between pollutants and plant diseases, and interactions between pollutants and agricultural practices. In closing, it addresses the challenges involved in the restoration of degraded land, side effects of agricultural practices in the form of greenhouse gases, and strategies for mitigating these effects.Plant Responses to Soil Pollution offers an essential guide for students, environmental consultants, researchers and other professionals involved in soil and plant-related research.
