The antiasthmatic drugs prescribed till date were stopped and the patients were asked to take salbutamol inhaler whenever necessary for a 7 days (run in period) prior to the study. Patients were educated and counseled about the proper usage of inhalers. The patients who were in group 1 were given theophylline twice daily whereas group 2 was given with theophylline and oral corticosteroid. After one month treatment a washout period of 7 days was given to both the groups then the treatment crossover was done between the groups.
