More than 37 years ago, the French artist Bernar Venet designed the Arc Majeur, a monumental work more than 60m high which was to be the first work visible only in movement. It was not until 2017 that the Belgian group John Cockerill and its foundation agreed to participate in the financing of this masterful work. For more than 2 years, the Meta-Morphosis team followed the artist, the workers, engineers, welders and experts who allowed this work to exist. From the first sketches to the transport of sections weighing several tons to arrive at the installation, each step was a real technological and human challenge. Photographer Charles Paulicevich took thousands of art photographs in the Cockerill workshops and on the E411 when it was installed. This Art book celebrates the know-how of all those who made this crazy dream a reality. The book retraces the adventure of the Arc which waited 37 years before standing proudly in Wallonia: plans, sketches, photos of the making of, archive images and photos of the work in situ. The preface is by Jack Lang. 1960 g.
