Hardcover. Condizione: Good. No Jacket. Two volumes, stout octavos, contemporary pale green cloth, rather worn and soiled, scattered light foxing,decent set. These two volumes are exact type facsimile reprints of the rare 1725 originals,and were intended to be the third and fourth volumes of a projected complete reprinting of Thomas Hearne's important scholarly editions of the early English chronicles, which Hearne produced at the Oxford University Press in very limited editions, often of 120 to 150 copies only. Samuel Bagster's name and imprint appear only on the half titles; the first volume's half title is followed by the tipped in advertisement asking for subscribers to Bagster's projected edition of Hearne's important scholarly editions of the early English chronicles. A sufficient number of subscribers apparently was not reached, as the project was abandoned after the first few volumes were produced.
